Questions & Answers

Question Where's the super-secret cheat room in Ultima 7?
Answer Download this text file written by Fallen Dragon, describing in great detail how to get to the secret cheat room in Ultima 7:The Black Gate without cheating!

Question What are you talking about when you mention Lord British's Mystic Fork in your E-Mail signature?
Answer Every now and again there's a topic that will surface on the Ultima Dragon's newsgroup--Lord British's Mystic Fork.

In Ultima 6, Lord British says that you can take anything in the castle. Well, if Lord British is having dinner and you take his fork, the good ol' King shouts, "Stop Thief!" and proceeds to kill you. And if you don't run away fast enough, you will be dead.

This unusual reaction to taking LB's fork has caused a lot of speculation. Some believe that the fork is the source of LB's power for why else would he attack you with such ferocity?

This topic usually generates a lot of silly messages on the newsgroup and takes about 2 months for the thread to die.

Question How can I get Ultima 7 or Serpent Isle run under Windows 95?
Answer Ask the newsgroups: rec.games.computer.ultima.dragons, rec.games.computer.ultima.online, and rec.games.computer.ultima.series. An older newsgroup that may or may not be dead, there once was, rec.games.computer.ultima-dragons.

Question I am at my wits end trying to find this game (Ultima IV). Where can I get "Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar" please help me!
Answer *NEWS FLASH*

The August issue of PC Games (not PC Gamer) has the complete game of Ultima IV! Get your copy today!

Otherwise, check out the Ultima Apple & Commodore Emulator site.

There you'll find an Apple emulator and a Commodore 64 emulator as well as the Ultima games that ran on those systems. This is the only way you'll find Ultima IV on the 'net.

If you're lucky, you can find the Ultima 1-6 Complete Ultima CD-ROM from EA. Otherwise, go here and you'll be able to play your favorite older Ultima through an Emulator.

Question I'm having trouble playing the games on the Ultima 1-6 CD. Can you help?
Answer Click here to go to the special page I made describing in detail how to make the Ultima 1-6 CD work.

Question Help! Ultima 2 keeps crashing with a "Divide by zero" error.
Answer Download the Ultima 2 Fix program from the Files area. It will make Ultima 2 run without MoSlo (a slow-down program).

Be sure to read the succinct documentation that comes along with it--especially if you're running Ultima 2 under Windows 95.

Question How many Ultima's do you have and how many have you played?
Answer I own every Ultima ever created for the IBM. These are the Ultimas I own that came in their original boxes: Ultima 3, Ultima 4, Savage Empire, Martian Dreams, Ultima Underworld 1, Ultima 7, Serpent Isle, and Ultima 8. (I recently purchased Ultima 3 and 4 for the Ultima Documentation Project.)

I also own the following Ultimas on CD-ROM: Ultima 1-6 CD, Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 CD, and the Complete Ultima 7.

Of all these Ultima's, I've only played: Ultima 1, Ultima 6, Martian Dreams, Ultima Underworlds 1 and 2, Ultima 7, Serpent Isle, and Ultima 8 (with and without the patch).

My favorite Ultima so far has been Serpent Isle--excellent plot, very difficult, and it was a dang long game! (SI took 3-4 months, versus the 3 weeks for Ultima 7:TBG.)
